They have a level cap but can be "reincarnated" up to six times to boost their stats. Servan level up with a different kind of points you gain only by completing quests or main quests. Lily do level up but also get better abilities by raising their affinity with Aluche and completing Lily quests. Not sure what the level cap is, but surely isn't 10 (I finished my game with Aluche at 40ish or so). Once you've gained a level by offering Blood, you get ability points you use to strengthen Aluche (her weapons, time limit, item drop, etc). The characters are also better animated than in Blue Reflection.Īs far as character progression goes, you still use Blood to level up but instead of fixed levels you have a more "traditional" level up system. While the game lost 60 fps (it's 30 fps, stable) it gained in character models, cutscenes and general effects, though it suffers from problems with texture streaming from time to time. There are no more decks for Servan, and if you don't bring the correct ones to remove certain barriers in the dungeons (only for optional content, to be fair) you have to get back to the base and change them (losing time, as Aluche can sortie only once per day). The weapon-changing Servans are useful, but for short bursts of time until you've upgraded them enough. In the first one, it was the Servan which did most of the heavy lifting, but in this game, the focus is on Aluche and her Lily, and the Servans are simply support. The dungeon time limit was also present during boss fights, but later Gust patched it out.Īs for the rest. The game underwent a total change in battle dynamics. The general limit isn't particularly annoying save for one chapter and if you plan accordingly you can do almost everything with time to spare. This time limit is disabled in the New Game+. If you don't defeat the boss of the chapter before the time limit, it's game over. The game has two time limits: one in the actual dungeon (like the original) and one per chapter (based on the phases of the moon). KNIGHTS OF AZURE 2 TIME UP FOR FREESign Up for free (or Log In if you already have an account) to be able to ask and answer questions. The motives behind a certain character aren't explained, and it looks like they were cut from the base game, as Gust promised an entire side story based on her (still unclear when it'll come out though). For hunts never you have infinite time, but in New + you have infinite days to hunt. The game does make refeferences to the first chapter, but in mostly in a vague way, though if people are curious I may post a few spoilers about it. I even have to say that the "normal" ending makes more sense than the supposed "true" ending. You don't even know what will happen to them unless you fulfill certain conditions (and it's very hard to do it in a run - the game has New Game+). My own opinion, after having finished the Japanese version (PS4):įirst of all, the story does have problems but aside the unsatisfactory endings present, there's the issue that all the characters save two have no impact on the plot in the final chapter.
